Portrait of Lindsey Ward

A Lifelong
Devotion to Music

Hello, I am Lindsey Ward, founder of Kassiani Piano Studio. I began playing the piano at the age of four, from that time has blossomed a lifelong unearthing of what music means to me. As years have passed by, my education has been shaped through performance, competition, and dedicated study in both piano and composition.

As a young teenager, my musicality was further forged under the tutelage of concert pianist and President of the Chopin Society of Texas; Nina Drath. Under her guidance and with much of my own hard work and dedication, I received my high school music diploma and performed in numerous recitals, competitions, and masterclasses throughout the United States and abroad. These opportunities led me to Mallorca, Spain; Paris, France; Pszczyna and Turzno, Poland; Osaka, Japan; and more.

In 2019, I was accepted into the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, Poland, where I completed two semesters of study under the tutelage of Dr. Joanna Marcinkowska. I later returned to Texas during the COVID-19 pandemic and was accepted into the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. There, under the tutelage of Dr. Andrew Staupe, I completed my Bachelor of Music with a minor in Psychology.

To this day, I am constantly learning more about my instrument and how music weaves its thread of meaning through human life and experience. Every student sits at my piano with a different background and way of learning. To teach them what I've learned and to learn more alongside with them is my greatest honor. At my Kassiani Piano Studio, I desire to maintain my devotion to music by offering others knowledge on how to wield the beauty of music in their own unique way.

  • Students continue developing scales, arpeggios, advanced sight-reading, and comprehensive musicianship alongside their repertoire.

Lindsey's quest for excellence in the arts and her mastery of piano began internationally, and she has continued her educational journey faithfully. Her passion for teaching piano fosters an environment where students explore creative musical possibilities for themselves while carving their own unique path into the arts. We are overjoyed to have her on staff at Angleton Christian School.

I have known Lindsey since she was 14 years old. She was my student since she was very young, I took her under my wing because I saw raw talent in her. In my opinion, Lindsey is a true musician. She is a rare find, a multi-talent. Composition, performance, real musical expression, she could even draw beautiful pictures. When she studied with me, she would compose and play the most beautiful pieces, it just comes so naturally to her. Her instinct is incredible. Lindsey is very patient, she adores children and is so good with young people, she is a fabulous instructor. My Lindsey has a very unique dedication to her craft and to her teaching.

Frequently Asked

What is the youngest age you'll accept a new student?

The youngest I have worked with are between 4–5 years of age. Signs of readiness include the ability to pay attention for at least 10–15 minutes at a time, simple dexterity in the hands (for example, the ability to use scissors), and knowing their letters at least from A through G.

Does a student need a piano at home? Is a keyboard acceptable?

Students are strongly encouraged to have a piano at home. Realistically, if you do not have access to the instrument at least 3–5 times a week, reasonable progress can't be made. If you are investing in a digital keyboard instead, I suggest an 88-key weighted-action instrument with touch/volume sensitivity and a sustain pedal.

Where are lessons held?

Kassiani Piano Studio is a home studio located in Riverwood Ranch, Angleton, Texas. The full address is shared after a complimentary intake video call and the booking of the first lesson.

Why is a video call required before the first lesson?

Since lessons take place in my private home studio, I like to meet prospective students and families beforehand. This brief call allows us to get acquainted, discuss goals, and answer any questions before your first visit.

What should we expect at the introductory lesson?

Expect lots of conversation. I want to get to know your student, their experience with music and piano, their learning style, their preferences, what makes them excited. Basic concepts may be introduced depending on age and progress, and I'll recommend the method book best suited for them. From that first meeting, I tailor future lessons to their individual needs and voice.

Do you teach adult students?

Yes. All ages are welcome, and I meet each student exactly where they are on their musical journey.

Do you hold recitals or performance opportunities?

I aim to hold three recitals per year, a Spring, Summer, and Winter recital. Participation is not strictly required, but I strongly recommend it. Recitals are essential for growing confidence and cultivating real performance skills.

How do you communicate with parents between lessons?

Text is best for day-to-day communication, I can't always answer calls. Email is preferred for any formal notifications or longer, more involved conversations.
